For the IELTS reading section, always read the questions first.
The questions in IELTS reading section are in chronological order which means that if the first question is going to be from the first paragraph then the second question will be from the second paragraph. It is not mandatory that the answer for the second paragraph would be in the second paragraph, it might also be in the last lines of the first paragraph.
Most of the people get matching the heading questions wrong. You should learn the technique to attempt these questions. In order to find the write heading you should concentrate on the topic sentence of a paragraph, which is the first line of the paragraph.
look for facts, at least 20% of the questions are related to facts. The answers to these questions would be dates, names or places.
Look for similar words
You are not expected to memorize vocabulary words, but there are certain words which the IELTS examiner expects you to know. You can visit http://www.fetsystem.com to find the most common vocabulary words repeated the IELTS exams
Increase your reading speed by reading a lot of books and articles, and if you have time then try to write summaries for the articles.
Familiarize yourself with the type of questions which appear on the IELTS reading section
If you do not know an answer leave it, and start doing the next one
Do not repeat the information which is already given in a question
